Jack R. MacDonald Community Fund

Grant Program NOW OPEN from Nov 1-30, 2023

The Jack R. MacDonald Community Fund was made possible by a generous donation from Jack R. MacDonald. The fund honours his legacy of support to the former Village of Elora. For many years, Mr. MacDonald donated to fund projects in Elora. The Jack R. MacDonald Charitable Trust was created upon his death in 2013. The Township of Centre Wellington was one of five organizations that received funds from the trust. Seed money for the Jack R. MacDonald Community Fund came from a donation from the trust fund.

The first organization to receive a grant ($5,000) from this fund was a joint project between the Elora Centre for the Arts and Portage Ontario Residential Drug Addiction Rehabilitation Centre.  The project called “Youth & Addiction: The Healing Power of Art and Creative Expression.” The program offered weekly programming at the ECFTA for Portage residents.

The second grant ($6,500) went to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington program called “Beyond the Box at ECFTA.” The program focused on empowering all youth, including Two-spirit, trans and non-binary youth, and building a sense of belonging through group activities.

The 2023 granting program will open for applications on November 1, 2023, and close on November 30, 2023. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date.
